Every one of us has days when we wonder what to do next. Whether it is something big or something small, life can feel confusing, heavy, or just plain hard. In those moments, we do not just need advice or a quick fix. We need something, or someone, real. That is where Week 6 of our message series, “The Jesus I Need,” comes in.

At Amarillo Fellowship Church, we have been taking a closer look at who Jesus is, not just in church settings but in everyday life. Richie Brown III helped us this week by sharing stories that felt personal and real. His message was not just about knowing more facts or doing more “church things.” It reminded us that Jesus is not far off or hidden. He is right where we are, helping, hearing, staying close.

Who Is the Jesus I Really Need?

Sometimes when people think about Jesus, they picture him sitting far away, looking serious and quiet. Or maybe only showing up during big church events. But that is not what we see in the Bible. Jesus did not avoid everyday life, he stepped right into it. He sat with people who were hurting, reached out to those who were ignored, and cared deeply about people others did not notice.

We do not have to be perfect, brave, or put-together for Jesus to meet us. He understands what it is like to feel tired or sad or confused. He walks with us through those things and never rushes us out of them.

The Jesus we need is kind. He is strong enough to handle our hardest questions and gentle enough to sit with us quietly too. That is the version of Jesus Richie talked about this week, the one who shows up when life feels too much but does not expect us to pretend we are fine.

Richie Brown III’s Message That Hits Home

Richie had a way of making deep truth feel simple. He did not rush or use complicated talk. Instead, he focused on what really matters. One part of his message that stuck with us was about how Jesus does not need us to clean everything up before talking to him. That speaks to everyday struggles, those messy, middle-of-the-week kinds of moments.

He shared how some of us might be carrying weight we do not talk about. Maybe a quiet disappointment. Maybe stress that does not go away when we go to sleep. But in those things, Jesus is not waiting for us to fix it. He meets us there, gently reminding us that we do not have to do this alone.

Richie’s way of sharing felt patient and honest. He reminded us that Jesus does not just show up in the quiet prayer time, he stands beside us during car rides, in classrooms, and even when we are just doing chores. His words comforted many, making this message feel simple to apply, not just easy to listen to.

It is often the ordinary routines where we need support most, not just during big changes. Knowing that Jesus cares about daily ups and downs brings a sense of hope we can hold onto every day.

When Life Feels Heavy, Jesus Is Near

February can feel long. The holidays are over, the days are short, and for a lot of people, energy is running low. When the morning alarm goes off, it is still dark outside. Some of us feel like we are dragging our feet through the day, hoping things start to feel lighter.

That is when we need reminding, and Richie did just that. The cold days do not change the fact that Jesus is still here. He does not leave when moods shift or to-do lists grow. Whether emotions are high or low, he stays beside us.

To help remember this, we can try simple things:

  • Read one line of Scripture before rushing into the day
  • Whisper a short prayer when pulling into work or school
  • Write one thing down, even if it is small, that made us feel seen

These do not need to be big to matter. They help us stay connected when everything else feels disconnected.

Sometimes just having a few gentle reminders can shift the whole day. Little acts and quiet prayers remind us we are never alone, even on the coldest or grayest days.

Letting the Message Sink In

It is easy to hear something helpful on a Sunday and forget it by Wednesday. Life moves fast. But when a message hits the heart like this one, we want it to last longer than the moment.

One way to hold on is to write something short in a journal or notebook. Just a line or two that stood out. Another way is to say the same prayer every day this week, something like, “Jesus, I know you are near.” That line, repeated, can shape the day.

And if there is someone we trust, talking about what we heard can help it stick. Saying it out loud makes it feel real. We do not have to have big answers or deep thoughts, just a willingness to keep the message close.

Jesus does not expect fast growth or big leaps. He moves with us through each step, even the small and slow ones. When we let these ideas take root, they begin to shape how we think, how we move through the week, and how we treat those around us.

Sometimes progress comes in simple conversations with a friend over lunch or while cleaning up after dinner. A few honest words can carry the message into our routines. Keeping what hit home close takes practice but can gently shift our days.

Where Real Community Makes a Difference

Being part of our local church family brings support and encouragement in hard times. Our vision is for people to know God, find freedom, discover purpose, and make a difference with their lives. Sunday services are held at 10:00 am, creating a meaningful space to connect with others and refresh your spirit for the week ahead.

Family is at the core of our ministry, with Bible-based teaching designed to make faith practical no matter your season of life. Small groups also meet throughout the week, offering space for deeper connection that goes beyond Sundays. These ministry opportunities fit naturally with what Richie Brown III spoke about (finding the Jesus we need in everyday moments and having a trusted, caring community around us).

When things feel tough, having a group to lean on can offer comfort that gets us through to better days. Sometimes it is the gentle check-in or the shared prayer that reminds us hope is always close, and we do not have to face difficulties on our own.

Steady Hope for Each New Day

This week helped us stop and think about the Jesus we really need, not the version that only fits certain times or places, but the one who knows our hearts and stays close through it all. Richie Brown III reminded us we do not have to go searching. He is already here, ready to listen, walk beside us, and give grace we did not even know we needed.

As winter stretches on, carrying this truth into our cold mornings and long afternoons can bring new life into the season. Jesus is not only for warm, happy days or perfect church moments. He is with us in the middle of February too, steady and strong. That is the Jesus we need, and the one we already have.

Sometimes life feels stretched thin or heavy, but knowing someone sees us and stays close can make a big difference. That steady presence is what we hope you will find here at Amarillo Fellowship Church. We are all learning to follow Jesus one day at a time, and there is room for every step, big or small.
